Lesson 1- exercise plus math

1. Explain what we did
We counted how many steps it took to get around the building then we measured our stride length to see how many times around the building made a km.

2. What is stride length?
Stride length is the length between your toes or your heels when you walk .Or in other words the length between your footsteps when you walk.

3. How did we figure out stride length with out a ruler?
Well my mom asked for a piece of paper because she knew the length and she used that knowledge to create a ruler and we all took turns walking and the other 2 put tape down on the place where they would use after. After that we used multiplication to figure out the answer. We figured out that 4 laps around the building =1 km.

4. What information did we use that we already knew
The information we used was that we made a ruler out of a piece of paper and we measured the floorboards and then we multiplied that number with 39370.1 (the number of inches in 1km) and we got our answer.

5. How far is it between our house in Victoria and Hillcrest Elementary School?
Our house is 2 km from Hillcrest school .

6. How many laps around our apartment building in Vietnam makes the same distance as from our house in Victoria to Hillcrest Elementary and back?
it is 16 laps around the building to get to school and back.

7. How many laps is the family walking challenge this week?
Our family is going to walk 336 laps this week.

8. What is the distance of the family walking challenge in Kilometers?
The distance in km is 84 km.
